Challenge – Mixed Media Monthly “Believe”

Hello all,

This month, over on the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge blog, the theme is “Believe”.  Which I was excited to see because I had a project brewing in my brain that was going to be perfect for this challenge.

This project is a mixture of Mixed Media, Assemblage with a bit of floral arrangement on the side.

It is really a treat when you can bring together so many techniques and different elements into one project!  I started out by creating the mixed media canvas and then incorporated it into the wooden sleigh with the Santa figurine.  Then I added the assemblage pieces and floral elements until I was happy with the results.

I just adore this little Santa and am happy that I finally got to use a Tim Holtz Decorate Deer from his Idea-ology collection. I have had these sitting around for a month or so waiting for the right project.  I also dug out my stash of DecoArt One Step Crackle finish and used it on the Reindeer and snowflakes featured on the canvas.  I really must use the crackle more often; it gives the project a nice aged and weathered look.

So, thanks to the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge Blog for another month of great inspiration!

Happy Day!

  1. Oh, my goodness, Lori, this is the most beautiful piece of home decor! I love the crackled reindeer and the wee deer is sitting pretty at the center of that forest of trees…just lovely!Everything is so perfectly placed and works together so well! I would love to have this in my home! By the way, it just dawned on me this would be perfect for our Winter Wonderland challenge at A Vintage Journey. I hope you’ll play along! Hugs! Sara Emily
